Thrive Market is a healthy lifestyle grocery delivery service whose main goal is to make healthy living more accessible and affordable. After being a Thrive Market member for almost 2 years now, I am sharing my in-depth honest review. I will be breaking down all the details, the pros, cons, who it’s best for, if it saves money, and if Thrive Market is really worth it.
What is Thrive Market?
Thrive Market is currently one of my favorite online stores! They carry all of the top healthy and organic products at wholesale prices and delivers them straight to your door. All you have to do is sign up for a membership, and you have unlimited access to all of their products. They literally carry EVERYTHING! Pantry staples, supplements, clean beauty, essential oils, non-toxic household supplies, healthy pet treats, clean curated wine, babies & kids products, high-quality meat & seafood, and even frozen meal delivery.
*I’m overjoyed to announce that I am officially a Thrive Market affiliate! After recommending them to my friends and family for over a year, I finally decided to sign up for their program. If you choose to sign up through my link, you will get 25% off and a FREE gift with your first order. I will also earn a commission if you purchase through my link. I truly appreciate the support as it allows me to keep creating free and helpful content on my blog. As always, I promise to keep all opinions and reviews 100% honest regardless of any affiliation.
How Does the Membership Work?
In order to take advantage of all Thrive Market has to offer, you must sign up for their membership. Since they offer products at wholesale prices, the membership fee is their main source of revenue. You can either choose a one-year membership for a one-time payment of $59.95 or a monthly membership for $9.95 a month. If you choose the yearly membership, you can test out the first 30 days RISK-FREE! Meaning you can get your money back if you decide it is not the best fit for you.
Most members make their membership fee back in savings within the first 2-3 orders. Personally, I made mine back after just my first order. If for some reason you did not make yours back in savings, they will refund you the credit at the end of the year. Also, for every membership purchased, they give a free one to a low-income family, student, teacher, veteran, or first-responder. If one of these applies to you, then you can actually apply for your free membership HERE.
Who is Thrive Market Best for?
Thrive Market is best for someone who is wanting to make a commitment to living a healthier lifestyle, but also wants to save money. Maybe you’re like I was and you’re spending a fortune ordering your healthy items from Amazon and Whole Foods.
It’s also great if you don’t have easy access to healthier options. I live in a small town and I can’t find a lot of the specialty foods or products here that I like to purchase. I have to drive 45 minutes to get to the nearest Whole Foods and Thrive market gives me access to everything I like in one place.
Also, if you have any special dietary restrictions, then you will LOVE Thrive. They filter their products using 70+ dietary and lifestyle values. You can literally just choose your preference like paleo, keto, no sugar, and it will show you all the products that meet those guidelines. No more reading all the labels at the store, they got your back!
Who is it NOT Best for?
I would say that Thrive Market probably isn’t best for someone who is just looking for the best overall value and not necessarily interested in the health aspect. Thrive’s focus is high-quality healthy products. Even though you may find better deals on healthy products when shopping with Thrive, these still may be more expensive than conventional products you can find at your local discount store. So if you’re just looking for the best bargain overall, and not super interested in healthier products, then I wouldn’t recommend it for you.
A few things to also keep in mind is that Thrive mostly has non-perishable pantry staples. So you will still have to buy your eggs, milk, butter, produce, etc.. at your local store. You also need to plan in advance when placing your order. My orders typically arrive in 2-3 days, but you still need to place an order before you fully run out of your favorite items.
Lastly Thrive Market is only available to those in the U.S. Unfortunately, this does not include P.O. Boxes, Hawaii, Alaska, and Puerto Rico. Although they do state on their website that they hope to expand to these places in the future.
Does Thrive Market Really Save you Money?
Now for the burning question, does Thrive Market really save you money? This isn’t really a straightforward answer, but I will do my best to explain. Overall I say that YES it can save you money.
Thrive Market claims that their products are 25-50% cheaper than retail pricing and their customers save an average of $30 per order. This may be true for many of their products. However, after doing my own analysis and comparison of some of my favorite products, I realized that not all products at Thrive are cheaper than other retail stores I may shop with. Some products tend to be the same price and some may even be cheaper elsewhere. This seemed to mostly be true for some more mainstream brands that I purchase.
However, one of my favorite things about shopping with Thrive is that they actually have their own “Thrive Market” branded products ranging from pantry staples to bath and body products. This is where the real savings are at. For example, if I purchase Thrive Market brand collagen peptides, it’s about $20 cheaper than any other brand I can find on the market. Everything I’ve tried from their personal brand has been of amazing quality. I have truly found some of my all-time favorite products this way.
Furthermore, they are constantly running specials on different groups of products. One day it may be an extra 20% off supplements or 30% off all condiments. If you catch these deals, you can definitely get some major savings. They also offer thrive cash that you can use towards future purchases. You can earn thrive cash for purchasing certain products or leaving reviews. Plus, if you take advantage of their refer-a-friend program, you can earn $25 credit for every referral.
Another caveat to the savings aspect is that it can definitely be easy to get carried away with all the amazing choices. If you are an impulse shopper or get easily tempted into shiny things, then you may end up spending more than you intend. I’m always finding cool new products that I just HAVE to try. The ease of just popping it into my virtual cart can definitely be hard to resist. However, this can also be true at any other grocery store you may shop. I know we have all went to Target with intentions to get just 2 things and left spending $200!! (Or is that just me?)
Personally, my Thrive Market app says I have saved over $4,000 throughout the lifetime of my membership, which has been almost 2 years. I have definitely noticed overall savings on the products I used to buy in-store. Plus, I always make sure I get my free shipping over $49, so no extra shipping costs for me.
Thrive Gives
As if Thrive wasn’t great enough, they are also doing some outstanding things in the world. I mentioned earlier about their free membership program, but they are actively doing much more than that. They use 100% post-consumer recyclable packaging, carbon-neutral shipping, and have a zero-waste warehouse. They also support and donate to natural disaster relief efforts, food equality, and food stamp access to healthier options. Additionally, they have helped raise 1 million dollars for COVID-19 relief. Now you can see why this is a company I am truly proud to support.
My Thrive Market Review: is it Worth It?
I previously mentioned that I have been a Thrive Market member for quite some time now. I typically order from them about twice a month, so I definitely have had some experience with the company. I will say that I have been very happy with my membership and plan to keep renewing it for the foreseeable future.
I love that I can find all of my favorite products in one place and it typically arrives at my doorstep within 2 days. There have been a few instances that my package took longer than expected due to high shipping volumes. Mostly during the holiday season and at the peak of the pandemic.
As with all deliveries, you also run the risk of items breaking or spilling in the package. This has only happened to me a couple of times. Whenever I have had an issue, Thrive Market’s customer service has been pretty incredible. They don’t hesitate to send me a new item and give me some credit toward my next order.
One time during the holidays, I had a package that was taking much longer than expected. It held all of my tamale making and Christmas cookie staples. Thrive Market sent me a whole new package for free and credited me the original purchase price. I mean talk about great customer service!
Overall, I think that Thrive Market is absolutely worth it! I highly recommend giving it a try and hey you have nothing to lose with the 30-day risk-free trial.
I hope you found this helpful. Please comment down below on your experience with Thrive Market. Also, let me know if you would like to see a Thrive Market haul with my favorite products.
